Innovation is at the core of Target’s culture, and as a part of our constant endeavor to unleash open innovation and stay ahead of the curve, the Target Accelerator Program was launched in 2014. Based in Bangalore, this four-month program seeks out transformative and technology-driven ideas to create solutions for today’s rapidly changing retail environment. As we build relationships within the Indian startup ecosystem and help to bring highly innovative technology startups to Target, this program helps entrepreneurs develop, test and scale their products and solutions via engagement with Target business leaders.

We’re looking for future-shapers of all kinds, but there are a few important elements we want to see from all program applicants:
A great idea, passion for retail and a strong team.
An innovative solution built with cutting-edge technology.
A viable product with market traction and scale potential.
Startups apply online, and shortlisted companies may be asked to meet with the Selection Board. Selections (7–8 per cohort) are made based on team, tech capabilities and relevance for Target’s strategic priorities.
You’ll work with Target mentors and subject matter experts to learn the intricacies of your business and validate your use case with real-time data.* Prepare for lots of networking, showcasing, learning and tech integration conversations.
Celebrating milestones is intrinsic to the culture at Target Accelerator. Upon program completion, the graduating cohort is provided with market access and networking opportunities, with the larger global startup ecosystem. We also organize a demo day where industry stalwarts are invited to hear these companies pitch!
But the program doesn’t end after the capstone event! As a member of Accelerators Alumni, you gain access to continued support, exclusive events and more.
In January of 2020, the incredible entrepreneurs from Cohort 7 got the chance to make the pitch of a lifetime at Demo Day. More than 200 investors and industry change-makers joined Tammy Redpath (SVP/President, Target India) to offer the graduates advice and feedback on their startup pitches.
Target accelerator enabled us to build scale capabilities with large amounts of data. Target accelerator team goes out of the way to help start-ups and we got benefits in building networks of investors, connect with other large corporations and ecosystem partners. Best of all, Target accelerator association builds credibility with every touchpoint in the ecosystem.
As an extended Target headquarters, Target India plays a key role in Target’s innovation strategy, and the Target Accelerator Program India is integral to accomplishing enterprise innovation goals. This 16-week, Bangalore-based program helps to discover new ways for both Target and the startup community to grow and innovate.
At the end of the 16-week program, startups have the opportunity to implement their solutions in real-time scenarios for Target. The startups get to learn and see the impact of their solutions firsthand, working closely with Target teams.
Each Target Accelerator program is aimed at discovering notable startups and providing them with resources, mentoring and tools needed to develop their mass retail knowledge and test their ideas. Each cohort within each program has a specific focus that is based on business priorities. These focus areas are communicated at the time of nominations opening.

Not necessarily. By applying and/or participating in any of Target’s Accelerator programs, it’s not guaranteed that Target will carry your product, service or technology. Viability for Target stores will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
It’s the final culmination of all your hard work and rapid progress. Each capstone is a little different, but in general you can expect to give a rehearsed pitch to Target representatives, fellow entrepreneurs and members of the larger community.
