This is the seventh installment in an interview series with the 2021 Target Takeoff Beauty cohort. Participating companies are sharing, in their own words, details about their innovative companies. All interviews have been conducted by the Target Takeoff Program Management team.

Meet Sassy Hair Cap.

Sassy Hair Cap founder, Bianca Rush

TT: What’s the one-liner description of Sassy Hair Cap?

Bianca: We help hair enthusiasts maintain their hairstyle throughout their day and keep their styles fresh longer.

TT: What inspired you to start Sassy Hair Cap? What makes what you are doing different from anyone else in the marketplace?

Bianca: This brand started out of the frustration of not having a hair bonnet that was long enough for long hair. I usually would have to tie my hair down, but I desired a hair accessory that could protect my hair regardless of how long it was. Due to that being a constant problem, I researched online for a long satin bonnet and could not find one and decided to create one. What sets Sassy Hair Cap apart is the transformation it provides by going from long to short in a snap of a button. The bonnets are 100% polyester satin, do not slide off while resting, and have a comfortable headband that fits multiple head sizes.

TT: How did you decide it was the right time to join an Accelerator? What are you most looking forward to getting out of the Target Takeoff experience?

Bianca: We have seen over 3000% revenue growth when compared to the 2019 numbers. As I analyzed the data, I became interested in learning how to scale and become prepared for the next level, therefore the timing was perfect to join Target Takeoff. I am most looking forward to the mentorship and new relationships that come out of this opportunity!

TT: What currently keeps you up at night, as a founder/leader of your company?

Bianca: My inventory keeps me up at night! One of the main challenges of Sassy Hair Cap is keeping the product in-stock. Most would be excited to sell out, but it’s literally disappointing to have to turn away customers who are excited (and anxious) to have your product in their hands, and you can’t deliver it to them!

TT: How do you stay motivated through the ups and downs of growing a business?

Bianca: My faith keeps me motivated, but I also understand the ebbs and flows of a business.

TT: Fast forward one year from now; where do you see Sassy Hair Cap and your team?

Bianca: I see Sassy Hair Cap in its first major retailer one year from now and featured in major online publications.
